Estate planning attorneys across four states join forces for National Make a Will Month

Estate planning attorneys in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and California are joining forces during National Make a Will Month to help address the common consumer misconception that signing a will means the estate planning process is finished.

On Thursday, August 20, Martin Shenkman, Thomas Tietz, LaTanya Greer and Florida attorney Sonia Muñoz Gallagher will present the free national consumer webinar “National Make a Will Month: A Thinking Consumer’s Guide to Wills.”

The 90-minute program, scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. EDT, brings together attorneys from different parts of the country around a shared public-education goal of helping families understand that an effective estate plan involves more than preparing a single document.

The webinar will also provide Florida lawyers with a free educational resource they can share with clients, families, and community organizations as part of National Make a Will Month., according to the organizers

“National Make a Will Month is an opportunity for lawyers to do more than encourage people to sign a document,” Muñoz Gallagher said. “It gives us an opportunity to educate families about how wills, beneficiary designations, asset ownership, incapacity planning, and other parts of an estate plan have to work together. Helping people understand those issues before there is a crisis is an important form of preventive legal education.”
