Judge Gina Beovides presented Chief Justice Award for Judicial Excellence

Eleventh Circuit Judge Gina Beovides, celebrated by colleagues for her tireless dedication to judicial education and her mentorship of fellow judges, is the 2026 circuit court recipient of the Chief Justice Award for Judicial Excellence.

The award was presented to Judge Beovides during the annual education program of the Conference of Circuit Court Judges of Florida.

In a letter supporting her nomination, one colleague wrote that Judge Beovides "truly embodies what it is to be a selfless, devoted, and thoughtful judge," adding that "it is known far and wide that Judge Beovides will regularly stop whatever she is doing to answer phone calls from colleagues who seek her guidance on issues ranging from judicial decisions to ordering paper for their chambers."

Colleagues also pointed to her rapid, steady leadership as dean of the Florida Judicial College.

"Her unwavering dedication to the judicial branch is evident not only in the way she approaches her role as a circuit judge, but also in the many ways she selflessly serves beyond the bench," another colleague wrote in a nomination letter, calling Judge Beovides' character, sound judgment, intellectual courage, and compassion "a testament to the values this award is meant to honor."

Judge Beovides was appointed to the Miami-Dade County court in February 2016 and elevated to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in July 2019, where she served in the circuit criminal, circuit civil, and family divisions and was re-elected in 2021. She has been dean of the Florida Judicial College since 2024 and is a member of the Florida Court Education Council, the Florida Courts Technology Commission, and the Commission on Trial Court Performance and Accountability. She previously served on the Online Dispute Resolution Committee and the Supreme Court Workgroup on County Court Jurisdiction.

Within the Conference of Circuit Court Judges, Judge Beovides serves as Third District Court of Appeal representative and vice chair of the Legislative Committee. She previously served the Conference of County Court Judges in similar roles, including as chair of the Small Claims/Civil Rules Committee. She has chaired the 11th Judicial Circuit's Pro Bono Committee since 2016 and helped create the circuit's online dispute resolution platform for landlord-tenant cases.

Judge Beovides earned her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami School of Business.

The Chief Justice Awards for Judicial Excellence, established in 2015 and presented annually, recognize one county court judge and one circuit court judge who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the judicial branch and who personify judicial excellence. Lee County Judge Tara P. Paluck was announced as the 2026 county court recipient in July.
